If you’ve seen my previous article Cool Cats of Cuba<\/a>, you’ll know I love taking photos of cats in exotic locations. I was recently lucky enough to spend a week in Santorini (a\u00a0Greek island in the Aegean Sea), and encountered a lot of cats wandering around the various towns.<\/p>\n

Some cats are wild and live on the streets, while others are family pets, but\u00a0all were friendly although one or two were rather shy.<\/p>\n

Check out some of my favourites – from timid kittens watching the world go by, to sunbathing cats without a care in the world!<\/p>\n

Cool Cats of Santorini<\/h2>\n

This very pretty\u00a0cat was relaxing in the garden adjacent to a small square in Megalachori, just watching the world go by.<\/p>\n

Even in September, the weather in Santorini can be hot – especially in the middle of the day. This white and tabby cat is relaxing in the shade of a tree to stay cool.<\/p>\n

A gorgeous dark grey cat wanders around the large plant pots next to a cafe in\u00a0Megalachori.<\/p>\n

No shelter required for this sun-bathing cat, who looked very happy and relaxed in the grounds of a church in Oia.<\/p>\n

There are lots of souvenir shops in Santorini, and this black cat was taking a quick break from selling gifts to tourists.<\/p>\n

As sunset approaches, this black cat settles down for a nap, looking out over the amazing views from Oia.<\/p>\n

These two cute kittens were looking a bit nervous sat in the middle of a restaurant floor.<\/p>\n

However their attentive mother wasn’t far away, keeping a close eye on them!<\/p>\n

Time for a nap\u00a0– this cat’s beautiful orange and black fur blends in perfectly with the undergrowth.<\/p>\n

This shop keeper in Pyrgos feeds the local cats at lunch time, and she had a small crowd gather around to be fed.<\/p>\n

Check out the bushy tail of this beauty, sitting at the top of some steps which lead down to a house in Pyrgos.<\/p>\n

Perched on a\u00a0concrete building\u00a0block on top of some cement bags was a nice safe position to watch the world from.<\/p>\n

A small ledge on a concrete wall is the perfect place for a mid-morning nap for this lovely white cat.<\/p>\n

It’s not unusual to see cats wandering around cafes and restaurants in Santorini – this one appeared to own the place.<\/p>\n

Sometimes you need to make the best of the resources you have available. This snoozing cat used the boot of an abandoned car as a bed, and a speaker hole in the rear parcel shelf as a door.<\/p>\n

The passenger seat of the car made a good vantage point, although I’m not sure all the broken glass made this a great location for a home.<\/p>\n

These mostly white cats were perfectly camouflaged to blend in with the surroundings in this piece of wasteland.<\/p>\n

One of the stunning views from the Caldera path near Firostefani. This ginger cat is keeping an eye on one of the many cruise ships that visit the island while admiring the view.<\/p>\n

Colour co-ordinated – this light brown cat with dashing red collar blends in with the brown tiles of some\u00a0steps in Akrotiri.<\/p>\n
